They are completed creatures as similar and as unique as you or I. They are beings of unlimited potential, of great opportunity, and of limitless capabilities. Their alignment varies across the board, whether; of light, darkness, or something in-between.
They are considered the strongest of the possible races, yet also the most fragile. They can achieve any goal if they put their mind to it and can fulfill any role. From baker, to scholar, to keybearer - their only limit is themselves.
To be a Somebody is to be at your peak of potential, yet susceptible to one's own faults. Darkness is your sweetest poison - get too much of a taste and you may find yourself succumbing to its twisted seduction...
Everyone on HEARTS ALIGNED starts as a Somebody unless under certain circumstances. Somebodies have the potential to fall to darkness and either become a Heartless or a Nobody upon their demise.
Read below on the methods required to become one of three possible races. Do not fear, there's always a chance to become a Somebody again! Once your Heartless and Nobody is defeated you will be re-completed within the world of your origin - whole once more.
[attr="class","IMGHeartless"] [attr="class","MediumHeartless"]Heartless Beings who are born from the DARKNESS. All hearts begin in darkness and thus so all shall end in it. Heartless are beings of instinct - creatures who writhe in the shadows - hunting down the hearts that they themselves lack. However, their lives are not one to pity - but to fear and even respect. There are two distinct types of Heartless that exist.
The Emblem Heartless, created artificially instead of naturally born - they are known for the Heartless Emblem that lies somewhere on their bodies. They are quirky creatures, who follow the "order" of the worlds by taking a form similar to a world's "theme". They are capable of working together in groups and have a bit more intelligence than your natural-born Heartless. Some are even said to be able to take human form! Now isn't that a scary thought...
Then, there is the Pure Blooded Heartless, beings who are nothing more than feral, instinctual creatures in their lesser states, yet capable of stunning intelligence and capabilities in higher forms. Pure Blooded Heartless are born naturally when a Heart either succumbs to darkness or is killed by a Heartless.
They are merciless stalkers of the shadows who relentlessly hunt down the hearts of those they lack. Occasionally, a Pure Blooded Heartless is strong enough to take on a completely humanoid form - making them more than creatures of basic instinct, but a being of cunning and power and many times more horrific. Luckily, the stronger Heartless remain in the Dark World, unable to slip through the boundaries between the two realms. Or so they say...
Heartless can turn Somebodies into Heartless or Nobody depending on the person's desire or request. If choosing to become a Heartless, the recently turned Heartless will start at BEAST rank - however, they can achieve a greater form and power through special "Heartless Only" quests.
There are three specific categories of Heartless, based on their intelligence (or lack of therefore), strength, and capabilities. The three are: Feral, Beast, and Humanoid, which can be read about just below:
[attr="class","SmallRightBlack"] FERAL Base animals at best, wild, and monstrous, known to be incredibly simple and basic in desire and thought. Their most common species are Shadows and Neo Shadows, yet they can take on many different forms unrelated to them. They're the weakest of the Heartless that take up a habit of swarming on Somebodies, attracted to the Light and its beauty. It is known that they have a bit of "hive mind" and usually lose themselves along other Ferals.
[attr="class","SmallRightBlack"]BEAST A Heartless who still retains a small amount of their memories, physical form, and intellect. They're stronger, faster, and a lot more cunning than a Feral Heartless and seem to have more than just the mindless instinct to collect Hearts. Their sanity is paper-thin but it only makes their intelligence not to be trifled with. They're resilient and capable beings who no longer have to rely on groups to achieve their goals, thus they tend to be a bit of a lone wolf - depending on the circumstances. A stand out example of this type of Heartless would be Anti-Sora or the mythical "Skoll".
[attr="class","SmallRightBlack"]HUMANOID Creatures of legend, a Heartless who, for some manner or reason is able to retain their sense of self and form. Whether through experimentation, possession or otherwise, this being is something else entirely. They're incredibly powerful and intelligent and many more times deadly than your run-of-the-mill Heartless. They can be an Emblem Heartless or a Pure Blooded Heartless. The most infamous example of a Humanoid Heartless, would be Ansem The Seeker of Darkness, himself! [attr="class","IMGNobodies"] [attr="class","MediumNobodies"]Nobodies Empty husks bereft of heart and emotion. They are beings whose existence itself is a contradiction, an anomaly to the natural order. When a person strong of heart dies, they have a chance to split into two specific beings: Heartless and Nobody.
Unlike their darkness based counterparts, Nobodies are beings of NOTHINGNESS. A body whose heart has been cast out and is only powered by the remnants of their soul.
Like a battery, the soul feeds their actions - while their memories sustain their habits. Beings lacking hearts, they're unable to feel emotion - instead some partake in acting out what they remember of their past selves.
Unlike Heartless there seems to be some sorts of established hierarchy within their ranks. At the bottom, is the most basic and simple of Nobodies, the Dusks - beings of intelligence yet, like it's Shadow Heartless counterpart is weak and lacking.
Whilst at their strongest there is the most humanoid of their kind, the closest their husk-like bodies can get to being a Somebody. Unknown to many, a Nobody is capable of growing a heart as time goes on out of need of replacing what they have lost. Though how and why is one of the greatest mysteries of the entities known as Nobodies.
[attr="class","SmallRightBlack"]HUSK Husks, twisted creatures born from nothingness. Beings of nonexistence who dwell in the Realm of In-between, much like their Heartless counterparts, Husks are the lesser of their kin. Weak, impotent, and unintelligent - their beings who fall into the fodder category of their Nobody brethren.
Akin to Shadows, these beings follow the whims of greater Nobodies having very little thought or individuality beyond the usual rank and file. Though occasionally snippets of their past selves can surface - it is heavily subdued and muted as well as very basic in it's function. The type of nobodies that are in this caste are mainly Dusks and other low ranking Nobodies.
[attr="class","SmallRightBlack"]SHELL Shells are those who are slowly reclaiming what they are - but lack the ability to make anymore progress in their ventures. They're beings stuck in their current form, lost, and incomplete. While they're unique enough to stand on their own - their not yet capable of making something of themselves.
Fleeting memories of who they once were start to persist as they're on the cusp of gaining a semblance of individuality. Nobodies in this category range from the more unique Nobodies who served Organizations XIII such as the Berserkers, Samurai, and Sniper Nobodies. As well as the enigmatic and powerful Twilight Thorns.
[attr="class","SmallRightBlack"]FACSIMILE Facsmilies, the strongest of Nobodies. Those of strong Hearts who have died and turned into Nobodies are often of this rank. They're the bodies left behind when a Somebody dies - lost of all emotion and sense of morality. They're the epitome of emptiness - beings of Nothingness who have lost everything that made them who they are.
Unlike the other ranks of Nobodies Facsmilies are beings of memory - and as such they often mimic the personalities they remember having. This is a ruse however, as they have no hearts to truly feel what they act out.
However, in a rare phenomenon Nobodies of this level have the ability to grow a Heart - regaining their emotions and full memories in the process. Though they are still very much Nobodies this is the closest they can ever get to feeling whole.
In the chance that both a Nobody and their Heartless is slain, the two may become one and return to their full self as a Somebody - though records of this have been few and far in-between. Nobodies that make up this rank are such, as the infamous Organization XIII!
[attr="class","IMGReplica"] [attr="class","MediumReplica"]Replicas Artificial beings created via the "Replica Program", repurposed by the forces of Light. These beings are born through the means of science and magic - vessels capable of eating, sleeping, and using all of the natural senses as any real person. Replicas house the Hearts of those with no body to return to.
Unlike Nobodies, Replicas are artificial bodies who hold true emotions within them, instead of real bodies with fake feelings. Unlike Somebodies, Replicas are not able to age unless under specific circumstances - their bodies are stuck in the age their replicated existence takes form as. Replicas are separated into two categories -to further differentiate the two sub groups that exist on Hearts Aligned. Replicas are a unique race only accessible when a Somebody dies and denies becoming a Heartless or a Nobody.
[attr="class","SmallRightBlack"]REPLICANTS
Replicants are beings formed via magic and science, they are completely artificial yet house very real hearts. Replicants are so life-like that they themselves often lack the awareness that they are not "real beings". Like all Replicas they are able to do all human activities but lack the ability to age.
Due to their state of mind they are FRAGILE HEARTED people and thus tend to be more susceptible to losing themselves to darkness. Beings that exist in this category are the likes of Riku Replica.
[attr="class","SmallRightBlack"]DIGITIZED
Unique entities who are comprised of entirely data. They are beings brought from the Data Realm and given physical bodies. Unlike Replicants, Digitized beings are one-hundred percent artificial down to their very hearts which are also data.
Digitized are those who go beyond their basic programming and grow hearts, thoughts, and emotions of their own. Replicas that are of this category are the likes of Tron and Data Sora. Due to their unique properties, Digitized beings tend to be STEEL HEARTED individuals, unlike their Replicant counterparts.

On Hearts Aligned, whether you're a human, dwarf, giant, elf, or otherworldly entity - you are categorized as one of the four playable races on this site. Most if not all characters start out as Somebodies - as the default race, however.
However, there are certain circumstances that will allow you to apply for other races at the start. Currently, there are four races available on the site. These are categorized as: Somebodies, Heartless, Nobodies, and Replicas. Each with their own strengths and weaknesses.
While most characters on the site will start as Somebodies, it is possible for them to turn into others if they meet certain requirements or obtain sufficient alternate means. Below are detailed explanations on each race and their sub groups. If you're unsure of certain things or have questions relating to your character's race - please don't be afraid to contact staff!

Lupus: Their main focus is combat, relieving worlds of threats from the Heartless, Nobodies, and other villainous foes. Their the peacekeepers who are always on the frontlines. The first to be found on the battlefield in the thick of it. Their jaws mercilessly crush evil in its tracks. While their stalwart bodies shield the weak and innocent from harm. Their symbol is the bold and powerful Silver Wolf. The Union Leader is:
Pardus: Their skill relies on information and reconnaissance. Like the Panther their name represents they stalk the shadows often unseen and unheard by friends and foes alike. They're the first to know of a new threat and are tasked with communicating with the other Unions. When push comes to shove their no slouches in a fight, they hit fast and hard, taking out foes in a flash. Their symbol is the elusive and cunning Black Panther. The Union Leader is:
Arietes: The gentle yet unwavering Stag, they’re the ones who nurture and protect. They’re the First Responders, whom enter the fray to heal the sick and needy. While they're not often the ones to start fights they are not afraid to finish them. Their power relies in the mysticism of magic creating both life and destruction with their immense skill in the arcane arts. Their symbol is the mysterious and gallant Green Stag. The Union Leader is:

In times long past, Unions were established by Keyblade Wielders in the pursuit of collecting Lux and protecting the world from darkness. However, tragedy struck, and with the keyblade war, many lives were lost - as well as the notion of Unions.
Not too soon after new Union Leaders were chosen to carry on the legacy after the war - where they built Scala Ad Caelum as the pinnacle of their hard earned accomplishments - yet the use of Unions soon fell into disuse and irrelevancy as time waned on.
Countless years later - after yet another Keyblade War came into fruition, the Seven Guardians came upon the history of the Unions and chose to reestablish it on a smaller scale. And thus, after many nights of research and debate they finally landed on three finalized choices: Lupus, Pardus, and Arietes - The Wolf, The Panther, and The Stag.
Each headed by a Keyblade Master as the Union Leader. And each Union given a specific purpose to fulfill. Tasked with specific jobs in the humble goal of protecting the Realm of Light from the forces of evil who'd wish to destroy it.
Regardless if they had a keyblade or not, all those who had concluded their studies at Scala Ad Caelum would then join one of the three Unions based on their particular strengths and skills. And thus did the Unions numbers grow. As of now, each Union continues to aid the worlds - working together as a greater whole in order to instill peace and prosperity.
