Hailing from the ancient race of Giants, Yhorm shares some similarities with his brethren, a simple mind, and a strong sense of self. During his prime, Yhorm was forced into the position of ruler, and gladly took up the title. Even against those that shunned him, hated him, Yhorm still rose up to become a valiant ruler. What pushes this is his strongest desire, the desire to protect others. Perhaps due to his giant’s blood, or because of his past, Yhorm has a soft spot in his heart for humans, champions, and those that also wish to do good. Giants never forget a true friend, and never forget those who had performed valiant deeds in the name of honor.
Due to his close friendship with a human named Siegward, Yhorm has telltale signs of being a somewhat merry sort, despite his threatening appearance! It goes to reason that Yhorm is fond of a strong drink, and to surround himself with strong friends. In a way, Yhorm is also slightly shy. Giants in Lothric, and throughout the annals of time in the world of Lordran are looked down upon by humans, fear and outcasted. Due to this, Yhorm is slightly intimidated because of the fickle relationship shown between humans and giants. However; his strong friendship with Siegward, a jolly sort, and a warrior, alongside Yhorm’s conviction to sacrifice himself even for humans that despised him shows his true friendly nature.
Of course, Yhorm is also a tragic soul. He places the charge of protecting the world upon his shoulders, and his numerous failures has made him unsure of himself. While he has the strength, and desire to protect, he fears failing, he fears himself not being strong enough. At one point in his life, Yhorm was known to be a warrior with a shield and sword, however after failing to protect something or someone dear to him, he discarded his shield, and turned his machete into a strong tool for smashing. This marked his first step towards losing his desire to preserve himself, becoming a berserker upon the battlefield. Next, we see this from Yhorm giving his close friend Siegward a tool to kill him, and even left a replica of the blade to those that hated him. Perhaps showing his foresight into the fact he knew he would fail with his charge, and gave humans the tool to reign him in, if he ever forsake his duty.

Yhorm’s history is one that is long, but what we know of it begins with him being a sole vanguard upon the fields of war. Born in a land that feared Giants, Yhorm could of been expected to strike against humans, with such a bloody history between the two races, it was to be expected. However; Yhorm always fought alongside humans to keep the dark at bay. It’s said that Yhorm had lost something, or someone in his past, perhaps a human he held dear, perhaps his giant brethren. Whatever the case, this marked the first steps to Yhorm’s long and tragic life of failing. Along the way, Yhorm became fast friends with an Onion Knight, Sir Siegward of Catarina, who was perhaps Yhorm’s first human friend.
Next in Yhorm’s life was the disappearance of the former lord and ruler of the Profaned Capital. Now while this is not concrete, there are speculations that the ruler he replaced was Wolnir, a savage conqueror and giant who fell to the abyss. This, alongside the long history of humans and giants being foes, was a catalyst for Yhorm’s ascension to ruler. He took the title at the behest of humans that hated him, but they longed for a king. Perhaps he did not take this title because he wanted to, but because he felt as though it was his duty.
Then was the next step In Yhorm’s charge as lord, to link the flame to keep the world alight, an age old ritual that so far, only humans and a singular god could achieve. With Yhorm’s foresight, he feared that linking the flame was not a duty for giants. As such, he gave his close friend, and companion, Siegward a blade known as Storm Ruler. A tool to kill Yhorm should the need arise. Additionally, he left a second Storm Ruler to his Kingdom, so that the humans that he ruled over could also fell him, if Siegward were to fail. After a solemn farewell, Yhorm linked the flame. Of course, he did link it, but something went awry. The flame exploded, consuming the Profaned Capital, incinerating Yhorm (expectedly) and his entire kingdom.
Ages past, and the bells tolled, summoning previous lords of cinder to relink the flame once again. A second chance at life for Yhorm. However; he forsook his calling, and returned to the charred remains of his kingdom. There he sat upon his throne, with the thousands of humans that burnt to a crisp in a reminder of his failure. Now, Yhorm did not forsake the flame out of fear of dying again, but rather he rejected linking it once more due to a fear of him failing again, a fear of the same tragedy befalling a new land that happened in his own home. So there he remained, in the Profaned Capital, undisturbed physically, but wrought mentally with his wrongdoings.
Some time passed, and Yhorm’s burned kingdom was met with the Ashen One, not only did the warrior approach him to make Yhorm return to complete his duty, but his dear friend Siegward also joined the Ashen One. A thunderous battle ensued, the flames that spit forth from Yhorm’s body, the storms being called forth by Siegward, and the Ashen one, and then. Nothing. Siegward bid the corpse of his friend, Yhorm, farewell. The giant had died once again…
That is until of course, a new darkness spurted and shone. A third life for the Giant. One in a new world. A world far different than his own. Perhaps Yhorm’s life had a new purpose. That story is being told now. Oddly enough, Yhorm also discovered that he was a third of his previous height!
