One of the few places where even in the darkness of night it remained illuminated by light. The black sky had been painted with a palette of neon which made it difficult for shadows to lurk. Yet, one shadow remained among the crowds of sleepless people. A towering figure in a ragged cloak stood atop one of the tallest buildings and watched the city from it's perch. As the night chill's howl caused the cloak to billow: the figure bowed it's head from beneath it's heavy hood.
"Somewhere..."
A voice spoke. It's deep rumble was powerful, proud, and filled with fire.
"Somewhere in this city. The key awaits." The voice continued as it extended a hand from it's cloak to survey the land. Memories of treachery and deceit remained fresh in the mind of the voice yet it couldn't bear to muster hatred over them. Only pangs of worry and the dread of what might be persisted. He was in danger, just as much as the man behind the hood. There was no telling what may happen if his ideals were corrupted just as the others had been. He couldn't let that happen.
While a shadowy figure was looking down on the lit streets, down on the ground, an undead sporting legend was walking with a bottle of beer, in one of her hands. She was just after a concert of an up and coming local female singer. Bambulina had visited the indoor arena that she was thinking of buying, but still had to do a few visits, but was pretty much convinced that it was worth buying.
The zombie girl was visibly greatly underdressed for the otherwise chilly weather, only wearing a pair of running shoes, a pair of jeans and a simple black tanktop, and despite the weather, she was not chilly at all. Due to being dead, Bambulina felt temperature on a dimmished level compared to humans. The zombie was going to spend the of the night outside, before heading back to her hotel in a few hours.
She was in no rush at all, as she literally had ALL the time in the world. Something that both made her sad and intimidated, but also hopeful to see what the world will turn out to be. She let her fate take her, pretty much aimlessly in a direction, not really caring, she would not get lost and walked while sipping on her beer. During one of her sips however, she froze mid sip, but was careful not not get the beer to leave the bottle. Up on one of the taller buildings, she caw a moving shadow... of a person who was covered up. She could headly see that if was a person, let alone of it was a male of female. The zombie girl found if unusual, but who was she to say anything, she was friends with an centaur-like Asgardian called Astrid, and another alien who was somewhat insect-like. The person was probably just watching over the area, for whatever reason.
The figure, feeling the eyes on him would stop and turn to the grey-skinned undead. Though his face would be impossible to see, the pressure he exerted would definitely be able to be FELT even from where he was. It was as if his presence carried such a weight to it that it was tangible physically. The man just took a moment to stare at the catgirl, his brown cloak continued to billow but he was otherwise motionless. That was, of course, until he took a step forward.
In a flash of white and gold, he was gone.
But a second later, a portal would open up behind the girl and the cloaked man would step out as if he had merely been continuing his stride. Standing at his full height of seven and a half feet tall he towered over her as the corridor of light dispersed behind him. He looked down, letting the silence speak for him as he just...Watched the girl.
"...Who are you meant to be?" He asked plainly, his voice coming out clear and deep yet the words carried a strange whisper behind them. It seemed like a simple question, yet it could be unwieldy all the same.
She was confused for a moment when the person vanished into a flash of light. But a second later, she head a strange sound behind her, making her cat ears turn towards the noise, and a moment later, the zombie turned around too. Portal creation? that was a pretty handy thing to have.
The zombie looked up at the towering person, who turned out to be a male, and grew wide eyed from being impressed. The person was even taller then the unusually tall Xena, something that actually caused Bambulina to be a bit uneasy. The cat-like zombie stares up for a few seconds, before tilting her head slighty and introducing herself. " Hello there, i am Bambulina Tozzi-Grant... better known as Diana Grant. " She smiled shyly, not being afraid of his otherwise intimidating size, and then something happened, some unknown urge forced her to also state her status. " I am unfortunately not a living person anymore. " She blerted out, unable to keep this information to herself at the very moment.
She was really confused as the why she felt compelled to aslso say that info and grew pretty embarresed about it. "Who are you? are you also a sports person? A basketball player or a wrestler maybe? " She asked him. Wrestlers could be huge, like this guy was, so Bambulina though that he was probably a wrestler.
There was a moment of silence, the figure didn't say anything as he just stared at the girl as she nervously bore her soul to him. It was as if she were offering her heart to him, or at least it felt like she was. Especially when she gave her secret without prompt. Yet, despite this, she didn't oicanswer his question, at least... Not in the way he desired.
"Diana the unliving." The voice returned, the whisper behind it turning harsh and demanding as a breeze picked up between them in the form of a billowing howl. The figure took a heavy step toward the catgirl as he stared from the shadow of his hood.
"I did not ask, who you are..."
Another step.
"Nor did I question, who you were..."
The figure stood practically looming over her, as if the cloak was ready to wrap around her and drag her into the darkness it contained.
Yet...
It didn't overtake her.
Instead, He got down to one knee so he may get closer to her eye level. That harsh breeze died down as those gold lights beneath the hood began to shimmer, if only for a moment.
"I asked... Who are you meant to be?"
A voice, far warmer and filled with curiosity questioned. The playful smirk could practically be heard in the tone as he lightly cant his head to the side.
When the person spoke again, his voice was harsh... making Bambulina fairly intimidated, and already start to sweat. The zombie, who has stood her ground against a few weapons like guns and swords, and remain totally unafraid, was actually intimidated by this person, who she felt somehow to be not totally humans either. The zombie knew that soon her stinge would be felt by the person. As he came stepping towards her, she grew much more nervous from personally meeting such a huge person. The end of her tail started twiching slighty.
When the new person got down onto one knew, Bambulina grew wide eyed and opened mouthed from surprise and confusion... the very last thing that she was expecting was a wedding proposition. When the person some next, his voice was much more playful and friendly, making Bambulina break into a shy grin, and her face, just ever so slightly took on a shade of pink from blushing.
After she eased up, the zombie looked away with her naturally red eyes for a few seconds, to think. After a few seconds she realised that the strange pair was getting a few weird looks from the people who was walking by, but did not care. Bambulina then turned back to the person and spoke. "I am meant to be a good person, a helper and a protector of others... i could not protect myself as a human... but now, i am more then capable of protecting others from harm. " She said not smiling, but in a friendly manner. The memories of her own death where seared into her brain forever, and no matter how hard she tried, she just could not forget what happened to her.
"Well...Diana. I believe you are correct." The figure spoke, his smile still audible as he looked into the undead cat's eyes from beneath his cloak of shadow. He took but a moment to let his words settle before placing a gentle poke on her collarbone, resting his finger just above her heart. "You may be unliving, but this is still very much alive and worth protecting. Never compromise your light. Remember, even the most savage wounds of the past can not drown it. The light within will always pierce through."
He stood up and stepped back from her now. That intimidating howl of wind that billowed between them had seemingly been replaced by a gentle breeze as he looked upon her now. There was still an air of mystique about the towering silhouette within the neon sea but he was clearly not intending to be hostile.
"Don't think twice about your second chance. Treat your unlife as a new chapter in your story. After all, even in rebirth: your Shining Heart still blares."
She was still nervous to meet a new person, and was still sweating from the recent intimidation of meeting a new person. She watched him gently poker her, not at all, finding this situation unconfortable, that a 8 feet tall massive person was on one knee infront of her, and poking her. After her death, such unusual situations became totally meaningless in her eyes. A loud laught suddenly hit her cat ears, causing them to jerk slightly, but the zombie did not take her eyes off the other person.
As she understood the true mening of what he was saying, it drove her to tears. Tears that she has been holding back for a very long time now. " All my life, i worried about the day that i would die, i wanted to grow old, and die with my grand-kids playing in the yard... but i was killed. " She pause fr a few seconds, trying to put all her emotion into words. " Every day it hurts... knowing that everybody that i have ever known, care for or loved with die... while i will be here to watch them go away permanently! " Her tears trinkled from her eyes, and she wiped her eyes a few times and took a few deep breaths to try to calm down. " My reanimation did have one positive thing about it... it saved my parents and friends from unbearable pain... the pain that i felt after waking up, knowing that i will exist untill the very end of time... it still terrifies me, even after so long. " Bambulina said, by now she has stopped criyng but still had tears in her eyes, so she wiped her eyes again.
She looked around. suddenly realising that she had to feed on some raw meat soon, of she would loose her mind and fall into her zombie frienzy... something that she is terrified of. " Come, let us eat and drink something... can you teleport to Vegas or Paris? you are my guest if you want. " Bambulina smiled shyly up at him.
